"Promote, promote, promote…"
Lobbying, in a nutshell, demonstrates an active community based demand for a broadband service. When this demand reaches a certain level (trigger level) then it becomes financially viable for the service provider to enable the telephone exchange to deliver broadband to the area.
Though there are of course other methods of delivering a broadband service, such as cable, wireless and satellite, the lobbying process tends mainly to focus on the broadband enablement of local telephone exchange.
Lobbying and your community
Lobbying helps serve and promote a wide and dynamic variety of interests within a community such as local businesses, parent groups, health organisations, education groups, individual leisure time users, home workers and so on.
As this process, in the main, is centred locally then there are great opportunities to be had in mobilising and enthusing your local community to become part of a lobbying campaign.
The name of the lobbying game is to encourage people to at least register their interest in and demand for broadband connection.
Of course this is easier said than done, so we've put together a list of tips and tricks to help your or your group garner wider support for any lobbying campaign you undertake.
