The East Midlands Development Agency has set up the East Midlands Innovation Technology (EMIT) Partnership that brings together all the organisations with a role to play in delivering e-business, e-government and e-learning. |

EMIT will produce and implement a competitive regional ICT infrastructure and is busy raising awareness of the benefits and uses of broadband technologies among the region's businesses. |

Broadband in the East Midlands |
ADSL broadband is already available to more than 62 per cent of the region's population. More than 1000 primary and secondary schools - over 67 per cent - and more than one in two public libraries are also covered. With a ever more exchanges actively seeking registrations of customer interest, broadband is at the heart of developing a knowledge-based economy for the East Midlands. Exchanges are enabled for broadband when customer interest reaches a preset trigger level. |
