Equation is a Microsoft certified technical education centre and we deliver Microsoft official curriculum training courses to typically IT professionals throughout the IT industry. The main driving force behind us having or desiring faster connection speeds was that as a Microsoft solutions centre we need to download very large quantities of information from Microsoft, typically CD's worth at a time. |

One of our frustrations was that Broadband was not available to us in our present location. It actually comes as far as the next field from the town behind. In order to get broadband at our location our solution was a bit innovative in that what we needed to do was provide Broadband at a nearby house, having first had discussions with them and using antennae on their chimney we then beam Broadband via a wireless connection to a nearby premises. We then have to bring it back from that premises to our current one so in total we come about three and a half kilometres through a wireless link. |

So what does Broadband actually mean to us? It means we can now have successful downloading of large amounts of information from Microsoft, for example one particular piece of software that used to take over an hour to download not takes just nine minutes. |

Another benefit is that we can now support tele-workers at remote locations through Virtual Private Networking systems and these people could never have worked from home successfully in a previous scenario. Another benefit is that we can now host some certain websites locally, for example employers email which they can access simply by going to any webs browser in any location throughout the world. |
